It’s a New Year

Dear South Williamstown Community,

It’s a new year and SWCA members are doing many things to celebrate it.  Here’s just a sampling.

Bette Craig, President

SWCA member Sherwood Guernsey is involved in the non-partisan 4Freedoms Coalition, made up of 150 community partner groups, sponsoring the 2020 WE HEAR FREEDOM CALLING MARCH AND RALLY ON SUNDAY, JANUARY 12, IN PITTSFIELD.  The march starts at 1:30 pm from City Hall to the Colonial Theater, where the rally will begin at 2 pm, featuring Senator Ed Markey, Sankofa, Imam Dr. Bilal Ansari, Kids 4 Harmony, Hawk Newsome, Jenn Smith, Logan Malik and Jason Ennis & Natalia Bernal.  Free and open to all.

First of Images Cinema’s “20th Century Women” films about women activists screens on Monday, January 13, at 7 pm.  Click on link below for more details: https://www.berkshireeagle.com/stories/film-series-celebrates-women-activists,593869

Some of us have been gathering weekly to read aloud from Louisa May Alcott’s “Little Women” (now playing in a wonderful new version at Images Cinema).  All are invited to join us when readings resume on Wednesday, January 15, at 7pm at The Log on Spring Street.  Sponsored by the Northern Berkshire Suffrage Centennial Coalition.

The Williamstown Rural Lands Foundation (WRLF) will be hosting a talk by SWCA member Dustin Griffin titled “A Layman’s History of Williamstown’s Trees” on Saturday, January 18 at 11 a.m. at the Paresky Center Auditorium of Williams College.  The lecture is free and open to the public.
